Julian Opie: French Village

We present six large format inkjet prints by British artist Julian Opie, known for his minimalist imagery. The pictures are presented in the gallery wall-filling and put the viewer in the perspective of a "gamer", who is navigating his or her way through a computer animation of a French village. Blue skies can be seen over Julian Opie's "French Village". Simple houses line the streets. The flat facades are composed of simple elements, windows are represented by black rectangles. Opie's street views take you into a world that evokes memories of computer games from the 1990s. At the same time, they remind us of the empty streets of cities and towns at the beginning of the pandemic.
